The procedure is explained on the State’s website: General Register Office - Getting Married. While a minimum notification of 3 months is required by law, it is advisable to make contact with a marriage Registrar long before that deadline. In order to complete the Notification Form, you will require the name of your Solemniser.
When meeting to complete the Pre-Nuptial Enquiry Form, each of you needs to bring recently (no older than 6 months) issued Baptism and Confirmation Certificates. Your priest will forward your papers to University Church on completion.
If you are currently domiciled abroad, your papers must be processed through the Chancellery Office of the Diocese in which you are domiciled.
The Church is very ornate and does not require much additional décor. No carpet, please; no confetti or petals.
Fire and safety rules forbid naked flames; if desired, closed lanterns may be used, though only in the atrium.
If you are going ahead with the booking you must fill out a booking form and return it with the deposit. It is still provisional until your freedom to marry in the Catholic Church is verified through completion of the pre-nuptial enquiry forms for both of you. When we say ‘provisional’ we do not mean that others could be given that date and time without making every effort to check your intentions first.
By arrangement with the office.
